How Do I Connect an Embedded Door Sensor?

What is an Embedded Door Sensor?

An embedded door sensor is a small, wireless piece of equipment that detects when a door is open or closed.

If you are adding an embedded door sensor as a first-time user, prepare your equipment and skip to Step #3, “Scan for Equipment.”

If the sensor is already in your list of available equipment, skip to “Embedded Sensor Setup.”

  1. Click on Equipment on the menu bar.
  2. Select Add New Equipment.
  3. Review the steps next to the orange Scan for equipment button and your User Manual to make sure the sensor is ready for connecting.
  4. Once your sensor is ready, click Scan for equipment.
  5. After the sensor is detected and associated with the gateway, it will appear on the screen.

Embedded Sensor Setup:

  1. Find the sensor to be connected from the list of available equipment.
  2. Check the box next to the sensor.
  3. Click Connect Equipment.
  4. Name the sensor.
  5. Click Next.
  6. You now have two choices:
    1. Click Finished. You are then redirected to either the "Let's set up your equipment page" (if more equipment is waiting to be set up) or the Dashboard.
    2. Click your door sensor name.  You will be offered an opportunity to pin the sensor to the Dashboard.
  7. Click Complete Setup. A success message will appear confirming set-up is complete.
  8. Click Finished.

Tips and Tricks

  • Clicking the magnifying glass with the eye above the name field will help the you identify which sensor you are naming. Clicking the icon causes the sensor LED to flash and can be helpful if you have more than one sensor in a particular location.
  • If you delete a door sensor from the app and want to re-add it, five (5) quick presses of the tamper button on the side of the sensor should allow it to be recognized by the gateway. Then, simply follow the steps above starting at #1. If the equipment is not recognized for some reason, you can reset the sensor by:
    • opening the sensor and removing the battery;
    • then pushing the tamper button down while re-installing the battery, until the sensor's LED light appears.
